However, because clinical TIA patients frequently show abnormalities on CT or diffusion-weighted image (DWI), it has been claimed TIA with imaging evidence of infarction should be reclassified as stroke. The perfusion-weighted image (PWI) is more sensitive than DWI in detecting acute ischemia, thus the hyperacute transient ischemia may be evident more often on PWI than on DWI.
